The road toward my decision to buy the ip4600 printer, was a fairly long and enlightening one. You see, I am kind of "old school", and don't know much about photo printers. I couldn't believe that a photo printer such as the Canon Pixma ip4600, could be had for WELL under 100.oo!

Heck, if I had known that, I would have bought the Canon ip4600 MUCH sooner!

I am self employed as a commercial real estate broker, and I office out of my home. I fancy myself as a pretty good amateur photographer, and I am constantly taking pictures of commercial properties. Before I purchased the Canon Pixma ip4600, I found myself going to the photo lab several times a week!

My old Lexmark inkjet finally gave out on me after 9 years, and I was in the market for a new printer. My initial feeling was to shop for a laser printer, as I need to present professional proposals to clients.

My brother in law,(a good photographer, himself), suggested that I look at the Brother HL 2140laser printer for starters. I took his advice, and went online to get some info on it, possibly some reviews.

As luck would have it, I came across "photo printers" on Amazon.com, and decided to check them out. I read what the Canon Pixma ip4600, and others, were capable of doing, and it blew my mind!

My brother in law suggested that I look at HP Photosmart D7560 printer printer, as well as the Canon ip4600. So, I looked at the prices, specs, and reviews on each of them. Finally, after quite a bit of research, and one particularly positive ip4600 review....

Canon Pixma ip4600- Love At First Print!

Right out of the box, the Canon Pixma ip4600 seemed sturdy and well constructed. It is reasonably compact, especially compared to my old inkjet. The following are the features that impressed me most about the Canon Pixma ip4600:

* SUPERB image resolution! Apparently, this is typical of Canon printers. If I didn't know better, I would swear that my 4X6 prints came from the lab.

* Powers up in a flash! Roughly about 2 seconds!

* 2 paper trays- one for plain paper and one for photo paper.

* Prints FAST! 4X6 prints on photo paper take approx. 25 seconds!

* The Canon Pixma ip4600 features excellent text quality! MUCH paper than the inkjets that I have owned!
